About the Company

Industrial wastewater chemistry, equipment, and on-site service — since 1997.

N.E.A.T. Environment, Inc. is a privately-held environmental services company founded in 1997 by Ken Gardner. We help industrial shops — electroplaters, hard chrome operations, radiator repair, sheet metal, mining, oil and gas, construction — treat heavy-metal contaminated process water so it can be discharged within regulation or recycled back into production.

We are not a generalist environmental consultancy. Our work centers on two specific treatment chemistries that consistently outperform on heavy metals: Powell Water electrocoagulation, for which we hold a Canadian representation agreement signed in April 2005, and the NAC-6 / KB-1 silica micro-encapsulation chemistry developed for stabilizing heavy metals into a non-hazardous sand-like matrix.

In practice that means we do three things: we supply the chemistry, we supply the treatment equipment and filter presses to use it (we are the Western Canada dealer for Eco Industries filter presses), and we run treatability studies in our shop or yours when you need to know whether your particular waste stream will respond to treatment before you commit to a full system.

Lab analysis on our treatability work is performed independently — primarily by Caro Labs in Kelowna, Eco-Tech Laboratories in Kamloops, and International Metallurgical & Environmental, Inc. (IME). We don't do our own analysis on the samples that prove our results.

Where we work.

We are based in Ponoka, Alberta, and serve industrial customers across Western Canada and into the Western United States. We can ship equipment and chemistry; we can come to your site for installation, commissioning, and training; and we can take samples back to our shop for treatability work.

For oversight on regulated waste streams, we work with the Canadian Ministry of Environment (MOE) jurisdictions where our customers operate, and we provide the supporting analysis and reporting required to move a waste stream from "Special Waste" classification to "Industrial Waste" classification — which generally eliminates the need for special waste permits, special waste insurance, and director-level personal liability for waste designation.

A note on our history.

NEAT was incorporated in British Columbia in 1997 and operated from Kelowna for many years. We relocated operations to Ponoka, Alberta. The treatment chemistry, the Powell Water equipment relationship, the filter press dealership, and the technical work all moved with us — only the mailing address changed.

Our earlier case studies and treatability reports were performed at the Kelowna facility and in customer shops across the western provinces and US states. The treatment work and lab results remain valid; the contact information on older brochures and reports does not.

Get in Touch

Talk to us about your water.

Phone is the fastest way to reach us. If you'd rather send us a description of your waste stream first, email works well and we'll respond within a business day.

For new project inquiries, a one-paragraph description of your operation, daily water volume, and known contaminants is enough for us to tell you whether the technology is a fit.
